Interview with Rick Santorum
To view the interview, click here
In this interview with Rick Santorum, he announces that he doesn't see himself dropping out of the race anytime soon because the races are meant for three people. Every time the candidates arrived at a new state, there was always a different winner, which made it difficult to scope out a stable front runner for these primaries. It's unfortunate that this race has to continue so long, but it must in order to get every state's opinion about the candidates. Santorum says that the democrat party wants him to drop out so they can begin to focus and attack on a rebublican candidate, but as long as he's in the race it won't happen.

Gingrich Gets The Spotlight

Newt Gingrich wins South Carolina primary

Gingrich finally wins his first primary in South Carolina, which has made a large impact in his life. His strong performance in the two debates in South Carolina made his victory very easy. Gingrich used two tactics that helped him bounce back from those attacks he made at Romney in New Hampshire. He convinced voters that he could go up against Obama and he made doubts about Romney as a candidate and what he stands for. I also learned that Gingrich out polled Romney in the topic about the economy, which was one of Romney's strong points. “It’s not that I am a great debater, it is that I articulate the deepest-felt values of the American people,” Gingrich mentioned in his victory speech. Maybe he can do the same thing in Florida, but now that he has a boost from winning, he could fund-raise and campaign better.

Gingrich: 'Obama can use a teleprompter'
View the clip at this link
At the last minute, Gingrich speaks to a large crowd of voters trying to persuade them to vote for him. He says that with the help of the voters, Gingrich will face Obama in seven, 3 hour debates and win. Gingrich even makes a funny saying that he'll let Obama use a teleprompter when defending his healthcare plan. He did a great job by winning his first primary, and since South Carolina is such a large state it will help him a lot. Let the race begin.

By Adam Beam

First Jon Huntsman and now its Rick Perry dropping out of the primary race. Now that we are down to four republican candidates, the primaries are starting to look like they are going somewhere. Perry dropped out and endorsed Newt Gingrich which plays a role in why Gingrich feels so confident in winning South Carolina. Perry said, "Newt is not perfect, but who among us is?" I learned that Gingrich will more than likely try to persuade Perry's voters, which will effect Romney's lead in the polls. According to the pole from the Public Policy Polling, Gingrich had the votes of at least 34 percent of South Carolina, whereas Romney only has 28 percent. This article will impact the political arena because people will find out how Perry's drop out has impacted the primaries in the long run.

Double Win, So Far
Tonight We Made History

Romney believes that he made history with his second win in New Hampshire. In his winning speech he mentions the failures of our present president about how he promised so many things to fix the country and basically how he has worsened the situation. What I don't understand is how Romney will get us back into the shape we need to be in. If I was Romney I wouldn't be making promises to the people not unless he knows he can change the country in a beneficial way. Hopefully he can have a 3 strike win in South Carolina. I guess we just have to wait and see.

Ron Paul Finishes Second in New Hampshire
By Trip Gabriel

As the candidates are about to leave the state of New Hampshire, Ron Paul finds out that he finished strong in second place in the primary. This is a great win for the outgoing Texan and he said in a speech after his win, "There is no way they are going to stop the momentum that we have started." According to Gabriel's article, Paul will have a hard time repeating another success. With the transition of states, Paul's organization won't be as strong in South Carolina because his views differ from some strategist. The fact that South Carolina is such a big state, he is at a disadvantage when it comes to television ads and campaigning cost.

Another Victory For Romney

Romney Says N.H. Results Show Attacks on Him Failed
By Michael D. Shear
Here is the full article
So far Romney has the momentum and not Santorum anymore. He won the second state of New Hampshire and says the negative attacks that the other candidates were targeting, apparently had no effect on him. After the race, the candidates headed down to South Carolina to give speeches. One that stood out to me according to this article was the speech that Gingrich addressed in Rock Hill. He didn't repeat the criticism about Romney's record, but he didn't apologize either. Gingrich still stands strong on his belief of being a stronger candidate than Romney. With this being said, how come Gingrich hasn't made his way as the front runner?
